Accurate and timely information, whether in the form of charts, maps or spreadsheets, is vital for successful developments and neighborhood revitalization projects. At Rise, we can assist developers and organizations with all their database and geographic information system needs.
Rise maintains a variety of data for areas throughout the St. Louis region. We also assist in the collection and creation of new data specific to a particular development or neighborhood. Our staff is trained in a variety of geographic information systems programs and programming languages, and therefore well-equipped to help organizations implement new data systems.
Rise provides and trains other organizations to create and maintain:
- Maps for funding applications, community asset maps, cadastral maps (parcel boundaries and ownership) and many other maps used to present community data
- Data collection methods, database design, digitized and geocoded data
- Outcome and impact measurement
- Demographic analysis and the creation and tracking of data that informs our understanding of how our neighborhoods are doing
National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership
Rise represents St. Louis in the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership, a collaborative effort by the Urban Institute and local partners to further the development and use of neighborhood information systems in local policymaking and community building.
In this role, Rise collaborates with partners from cities around the country to track neighborhood changes and determine the indicators needed to best do so. This helps is not just make decisions locally about tracking the effectiveness of our own revitalization efforts, but allows us to share data with other experts to both refine our models and assist others in refining theirs. In 2014, St. Louis hosted the NNIP April partners meeting and took the chance to showoff the best that St. Louis has to offer. These meetings are routinely held at different host locations around the country and Rise is proud to participate. Rise also hosted a bus tour and reception for all NNIP members and guests on April 2nd at the Rotunda in City Hall, 1200 Market Street. We were honored to host such an important event and had great turnout at the reception!

Neighborhood Data Gateway
As part of our goal to make more information available at the grass roots level and encourage data-based decision making, Rise initiated and launched the St. Louis Neighborhood Data Gateway on November 5, 2012. The Data Gateway is a resource for data on local assets and opportunities that can be used to improve St. Louis neighborhoods. The site features an interactive map built from the St. Louis Neighborhood Market DrillDown study (a collaborative effort with Housing and Community Solutions), census information and other data sources, and aggregates the information to aid efforts around food access, financial services, economic development and housing. Data and Services Attribution
Rise will often work with various partners to ensure that our data is correct and serves the needs of the project’s goals. Often, utilities such as those from Texas A&M’s Geoservices are used by Rise and when appropriate, partner data will be attributed accordingly. This means that Rise works in partnership with other organizations to keep our data integrity high and accurate.
