CBN Awards Reception Honors Community Impact

The fourth annual Community Builder’s Network (CBN) Awards Reception was held last night at downtown St. Louis’ coworking space and technology incubator, T-REX. It was an enthusiastic crowd that welcomed all of the new awardees to the growing cadre of winners. As part of the ceremony, The Rise CDC Capacity Building and Collaborative Grant awardees were announced by Mary Campbell, Rises’ newly inducted board president.

The CBN Awards Reception winners are:

Banking – David Noble

CBN Nonprofit – Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC

Community Building Outstanding Achievement – Nancy Thompson & Vince Schoemehl

Faith Based – Claire Wolff

Philanthropy – The Incarnate Word Foundation

Public Sector – The Regional Arts Commission

Resident – Lucendia Smith

The Rise Collaborative Grant awardees are:

DeSales Community Housing Corporation – to assist the South Jefferson Collaborative with their “Healthy Communities” initiative

Dutchtown South Community Corporation – to create their “Friends of Pocket Parks” program

Lemay Development Corporation/Lemay Housing Partnership/Lemay Chamber of Commerce Collaboration – to support expansion of their CommunityLink newspaper

LinkSTL/Grace Hill – to support the collaborative economic opportunity district in Old North St. Louis, Hyde Park, and College Hill neighborhoods

Northside Community Housing Inc. – for support of the Ville Collaborative and continuation of their community garden and youth employment program

Park Central Development Corporation – for focal neighborhood community assessments and neighborhood action plan strategy initiatives

Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC – for capacity building of their “Screen Door” tenant screening program and nuisance property abatement initiative

It was a great event bringing to light all of the hard work people and organizations do in the community development field.
